RFD 5 Blacktooth Bash... 2009/08/21 16:06 Karma: 0
Well, I have to say first off that the concert was great, the people that played the songs brought new life to some old jams. Corey was amazing, bloody vocals and all...Mike Mushok was a huge surprise. I never thought I'd see him rip some pantera solos and Eruption nearly flawless. The God forbid guys killed and were cool as hell. Aaron Lewis also a huge surprise. Phil Demmel is a bad mofo as usual. Ace was Ace and Vinnie was Vinnie...kind of. Met Big Dad Rich's Mom and Aunt, cool ass people! THC put on the best damn show everytime, their stage presence and the power of BDR is amazing and if you cant feel that shit while they're playin then your not breathing!

Been a couple years since i'd seen everyone so that felt good to get face to face with some people, if only for a couple minutes. Nice to have some old friends take time to say HI, eyeopening to some of the people that didnt even want to shake hands....just a passing yo. I have a ton of pics to put up and some video, but i'll do that later.

Now for the bad news.

Everyone that paid for the VIP package got the shaft. Plain and simple. And thats not just from me, i talked to some of the other people that were in the cattle pen that were equally upset about the whole "VIP" package. I mean C'mon. We get our BBQ plate, which was actually very good. DAMN good! whoever cooked that mess up deserves a pat on the back. Then we move on to the stage area and we stop off at the merch for our "Dimebag VIP Gift bag". And they hand us a Glad Ziplock bag of shit. I thought Robs girl was jokin with us at first, and then she told me that this was it. Holy shit. So i then ask for our event shirt, and to my surpise, we dont get one like with other years VIP stuff. The Dimehardware tent at mayhem told us we'd get a shirt at RFD with the VIP also. This same girl was next to us while we were asking about our shirts, and she got the big NO also. All we get is this.

(in case you cant see what a couple those things are, well, the deal standing up is your typical bar table display, and then theres a sticky pad of order forms for the jager cooler. If i wanted to set up a table at a bar, i'm headed in the right direction, sweet)
Along with that, a Jager hat in one bag and a Jager shirt in another, size L, so no switching either. Holy shit. This is all stuff they GIVE away at the Jager tent at Mayhem, Bars, any jager promotional event. One bag had one of the free Metal-Blade sampler CD's, free at most music stores and at the mayhem tent the day before, the other had an already opened and broken trivium CD. Fuckin SWEET. Ticketmaster also listed "meet and greet" with the artist as part of the VIP. So we go strollin up to the fence to go back and meet somebody, Chells little bro wanted to meet Corey and have a pic, and low and behold, the dude says NO. I ask Joe about it and he says that an "All Access" has to escort you back, which is what HE was waiting for. Joe didnt have and ALL ACCESS pass..WTF. So we give up on that and go have a seat. Some people asked if wanted to trade sizes for shirts, but to no avail, we both had only L size.

I dont know what the point of the VIP was. I seen Devin asked about it and Dan said something about an event t-shirt and some other items, so thats basically part of what i based my logic on bumping up to the VIP. I guess Rita set up the whole Concert and that end and Dan did the Ride? Obviously the Ride kicked ass as always. Why didnt anyone else answer the forum question to answer devins question? I Guarantee that no one would have baught the VIP if they'd known what the contents of whole thing was.

What about the guitar raffle? they told us at the mayhem dimehardware tent that the guitar was to be given away at the ride. turns out not even close, we we're told that rita would draw a name sometime and let people know. WTF.

Basically as far as i can tell, we payed 100.00 for a 45.00 ticket, adding 10.00 for the BBQ. Scammed to the bone.

Dan, I appreciate and give thanks to you for what was started in '05. It seems like the idea is still there on why we do this, but the actions dont speak for it. Lots of "rockstars" walkin around. There wasnt too many people that first night but we started some frienships that will never end (ODC). A candle was lit and now its a full blown wildfire out of control.

WELL SAID JOHNNY.
A great example of how little communication there is, Dan has not had anything to do with the Ride for a couple years it is Rob in charge. Hopefully they will get better organized now. But really I don't think there is anybody delivering the deal as it were.
Great to see everyone again. HAIL DIME!

Hello Everyone,
I would like to start off by saying I agree with everything Y'all have said. I am not only dissapointed with the last 2 years I am so sorry for the items given in the packages.
We started this Charity 5 years ago with some great people working with RFD as Volunteers and we had a couple of bumps the first couple years but in year three we kicked ass thanks to all the support from you guys and everyone that came to the event. The only thing I as the current President of RFD wanted is for the event to be successful and grow. With the support of Rita we hoped this would happen. Unfortunately about that time the economy started to tank and the Big shows we planned didnt do as well as it could have with the talent Rita pulled together...amazing collection of Artists that not for her would have never been on the stage together.
That being said RFD starting in 2010 will be scaled back somewhat to more of a local event as it was in 2007 and keep ourselves with the great reputation we have built over the last 5 years.I am sure the economy will rebound soon and we will be able to have larger shows.
For now THANK EVERYONE that has supported RFD in the past and I hope will continue to support us in the years to come.

Rob

I do declare!

That 2010 will be the BEST year ever! The heaviest, the greatest. I know this because on the Rogue Warrior video game commercial this X-mas, they play Dimebag ! It's a message!
Blunt Force Trauma to the HEAD!!! Even 5 seconds of Dime is better that 24 hours of the shit they dish out on this sphere of damnation!
And when Al Gore starts writing Death Metal (this week at Copenhagen) you know it's getting weird. (which makes me feel better).
What I am trying to say is Dime All The Time - Fearless Four Forever, PGA all the way and RFD from Dallas to Detroit - Let's Roll.
Merry Christmas and a Dime Time New Year everybody.
